What is Legacy of Love?
Legacy of Love is both a joyful celebration of Mount Horeb United Methodist Church, and a fundraising effort. Through the creation of a beautiful wooden art display, we will:
- Celebrate our history
- Honor and remember our church family
- Increase resources for priorities and missions
- Become free from debt
- Create a joyful future for generations to come
Donors choose the names and messages they would like to share on individual wooden pieces that comprise the art display. The donations will help pay down our mortgage, and free our resources to step into our future, unburdened by debt. This is a collective opportunity to say yes to our Church’s goals, missions and service, and lift us all into the future of Mount Horeb United Methodist Church.
The Legacy of Love installation was unveiled at a special dedication celebration, October 2, 2024.
The wall includes history panels about our congregation, as well as personalized wood blocks purchased by members and friends.
How can I be part of Legacy of Love?
Option 1: Make a donation and order an engraved block to be added to the wall. We have blocks ready to be engraved with your personal message; check the wall for inspiring ideas! Below is a chart showing block sizes and suggested giving levels. You may pledge a one-time gift paid in full, or spread out your gift in monthly increments, spanning one or three years.
Please contact the church office to let us know you are making a donation that includes an engraved block. A member of our team will contact you to discuss and confirm your message before the block is engraved.
Option 2: Make a donation without ordering an engraved block. All of your giving will go directly toward paying the mortgage. You are welcome to give whatever dollar amount you are comfortable giving. If making a donation by check, please indicate "Legacy of Love" in the notes field. Our Building Loan History
After years of strategic planning, in 2017 we broke ground to build a new addition. The addition was completed in 2018 and included a new front entrance, a bell tower that houses our historic church bell, and an elevator.
All of these changes made a huge difference in our building use. We now enjoy a bright and welcoming entrance, and a large, comfortable space to gather for hospitality and meetings. The elevator provides full access to both levels.
All of this work required taking out a building loan, and this is why we have a mortgage.
